Religious Discrimination
Your employer cannot treat you differently because of your religious beliefs and practices. Your religious rights are protected whether you belong to traditional well-known religion, a less recognized religion, or practice atheism. In fact, your right to hold any sincere religious, ethical or moral belief, or none at all is protected while in the workplace. Additionally, your employer cannot require you to participate or not participate in any religious activity as part of your employment. Your employer also cannot harass you or create an unreasonable environment at work based on your religion.
Your employer is also required to make sure you are accommodated for your religious beliefs which may include:
- Allowing different work schedules
- Voluntary shift substitutions
- Job reassignment
- Modifications to company dress code or grooming policies
- Modifications to other company policies or practices
